About the Festival
Following the city’s 50th Anniversary Celebration in 2008, the community set out to create its own signature annual event….and the idea of Murphy Maize Days was harvested! The inaugural festival attendance was over 3000! With the addition of the Murphy Maize Days A-Maize-ing 5k Run - PRACTICE THE RUN! CLICK HERE TO SEE MAP - (Click here to Register for 5K/Fun Run) the morning of the event and other Maize Days related community events all leading up to Saturday, September 24, attendance is expected to double if not triple!

Murphy Maize Days has something for everyone – great food and beer, arts & crafts, Kidz Zone, live entertainment all day – featuring live Texas music, and closing the evening with the “Best Fireworks Show in the County”.

Why Corn?

Once upon a time, Murphy was acre upon acre of seed corn and cotton. Back then, corn was commonly called maize…add in all kinds of corn food, corny fun and you’ve got MAIZE DAYS!

It was great to see young and old alike having fun singing, dancing, and playing games. There was delicious food and the entertainment was outstanding.
